For real this time

Today is finally the day I get to go home. All of the kids leave today. I am so ready to get out of the dorm and off campus. Its not even the kids that I am annoyed with. They have been surprisingly good this year. Its the people who should be more responsible and have more common sense because they're in charge.

I've had a week of cleaning up after people down here and when I get back home, I'll have a week of cleaning up after people up there.

I'm now waiting for all of my girls to finish packing and such so I can check their rooms. T-minus 5 hours (ish) until I will be out of here. Can't wait.

Oh and its my half birthday! :)

Finally...sorta

The big group from Journalism camp is finally leaving today. Woo hoo! Some of these kids have absolutely no moral compass and no idea what common sense is. I don't understand them. And those some really give the good ones a bad name. My 40 girls have not given me any problems besides the normal, "I'm away from home so I can act a little crazy!" Not a big deal.

Just for this portion of camp, we sent a kid home after the first night because he had chew (he didn't want to be here for some reason). We had a guy (not with us) jump out from some bushes and scare a few girls and then start chasing them. I, along with some other people, don't know how much we actually believe this. One night I had to yell at a boy for wearing a bra down in the lobby over his shirt. He was going to go do something with his friends and he had already made 1 group of girls really uncomfortable. He didn't like me after that. Oh well. This year the bad ones haven't been too bad but things have still happened.

There have been fun encounters too. I have a group of guys that I had to tell to go to bed every night. So after the first night, they wanted to know my name. From then on, whenever they would see me on campus, they wanted to know if they could stay up late. I had a girl on my floor who had the same personality as me so that was a blast. She kept apologizing because she didn't want to come off as mean but it cracked me up.

But most of the kids get to go home today :) For the first part of camp we had roughly 300. Thirty of them will stay through for the second part. Total for the second part we'll only have 150-200 so it won't be as bad, I saw that now but watch - something will happen.

Oh and I haven't had to go to the hospital for any injuries yet! We will see how the next part goes.

A New Toy

Jaye got Buster a new toy while on vacation. I liked it because it said Jeep. Buster liked it because he could play tug-o-war with it and it squeaks.

He slept with me the night he got it and he took it to bed with him and I fell asleep to him chewing on it and woke up the next morning to the same thing. That's how you know you got a good toy. :)

Signs of Our Times

I like to take pictures of signs. Especially when they crack me up. So here are a few that I took on my way to and from North Carolina.

I wonder if a lot of raccoons live in the valley.

I saw these numbers along the road for a good stretch. I couldn't figure out what they were and still don't know.

Some people must think the bridge needs to go on a diet.

Katie says that North Carolina people really like icing so that's why they have these signs up :)

This is in Tennessee and everytime I go by it, I take at least 1 picture of it. I want to travel the road sometime but doubt I ever will.

I see these signs and don't really think much about it. Except this time...
there were really fallen rocks. And these 2 pictures were taken in order.

Seriously. At a Taco Bell drive thru in Florence, KY.

This was in Indy. It kind of makes you wonder what on earth they were really doing to the roads in town.

Biltmore Pictures

The Biltmore Estate. Magnificant does not even describe everything about this house. Click here to learn and see so much more about the house and everything else with it.

The Bass Pond. It seemed like it was a few miles from the actual house and took us forever to get there but I don't really know how long it was.

How would you like to have this turtle, Wes? He wouldn't even come close to fitting in your tank. He was big.

These trees were massively tall. We found them on our way to the Bass Pond.

Katie was being a dork and decided to do something goofy in mid shot. Come on Katie Lyn.

How pretty is this?

Love the color.

A huge tree.

Conrad Wedding Pictures

Their program double as a fan.

This was the view we had while they were getting married. Breathe taking.

This was what our table looked like. And those are not mints on the plates. Its butter. We weren't for sure so we had to check. We don't get out much...

Everything on this cake was edible. Even the flowers on the top. It was a beautiful cake and tasted pretty good too. I was kind of disappointed because I forgot to take a picture of out meal. Filet minon. Amazing.

This was there first dance.

North Carolina

Matt and Nicole got married, well had their ceremony, last month in North Carolina. It was beautiful down there. We enjoyed every minute down there but would not want to live down there. The drive down was fine until we got into NC. Then there were miles and miles of curves with a cement barrier in the median that freaked us both out.

The wedding was very small. Less than 75 people. They had the ceremony at the Inn on Biltmore Estate. Beautiful. I'll put pictures up when I have more time.

Katie is living down there right now so I got to spend all day Saturday with her (wedding was on Sunday) and she showed us around. We toured the Biltmore Estate and all the gardens. Its amazing how the house was built with out modern equipment and how wonderful it looks.

After that fun filled weekend it was a long drive back home and then off to work bright and early Monday morning.

Melissa & Bryant

My sister got married this past weekend. It was a beautiful day for a wedding. Everything was great.

Now they are Honeymooning in Hawaii.

I took over 300 hundred pictures with my camera and Eric and I were in charge of Melissa's 2 cameras. And we put them to good use She'll have tons of pictures to choose from.

Happy Mother's Day

My mom is the greatest mom ever. I only hope I can show my kids the same love she has showed me.

Sunshine

It was so nice yesterday that I hung my clothes outside on the line to dry. And today I got to reap the benefits of the line by smelling like sunshine. Ahh. :)

And today, its dreary, rainy, and gray. Blah.

I can't wait for the next sunshine day....

Amanda's fish

I went with Amanda on Friday so she could get her tattoo. It was a fun experience. I don't want one but I had fun at the place. The guys who work there were having so much fun.

Easter Bunny

"I hope the Easter Bunny came, I put my basket out before I left."

That's what Lily said earlier today. It made me stop and kinda chuckle. Is the Easter Bunny like Santa? It was never that way for me when I was little but every family is different.

So did the Easter Bunny visit you today?

Watch Dog

Here's my watch dog. His favorite past time is looking out the window. He'll bark at everyone who walks by unless its Eric or I getting home. Its not only the downstairs window. I think he likes looking out Lily's room better because he can see more but she doesn't really like him in her room.

What Mom?

My Little Helper

Buster is 7 months old now and a very big pain in my butt sometimes. A few weeks ago I was putting a bookcase together and he decided I wasn't doing it quite right.

I love it when I get help. When I was nailing on the back, he decided to hold it steady by standing on if for me. Isn't he just so thoughtful...

Belden CDT 1797B

One day I was cleaning some stuff in the office and came across this.

I couldn't figure out exactly what it was so I decided to Goodsearch it. This is what I found.

Kind of funny how the description doesn't tell you a thing and the manufacturer's website doesn't even come up either.

Makes me want to go out and buy some. It makes me wonder how their customer service is.

Groundhog Day

Yesterday was my favorite day. It was Groundhog Day. I love the holiday because no one really knows about it or remembers it.

Ok, it is my favorite holiday but only because its my birthday. I love birthdays. Some people think they're just another day, which they are, but I think its a wonderful excuse to be selfish for a day.

Birthdays have always been the same for me throughout the years. I pick what I want to eat for my birthday dinner and I have mayonaise cake.

This is me on my first birthday...

Wasn't I cute :) And that's my sister behind me holding my cake.

This is what my cake looked like on this birthday. See any similarities?

I know Jaye knows what I'm talking about but for everyone else who may be reading this, something else that happens every year for my birthday is, my cake is always in the same pan. This pan has come to be known as the birthday cake pan. How many people can say they've had their birthday cake in the same pan for 23 years. It always makes me smile. I love it.
There's a little look into why I love my birthday!

A Year in Review

We welcomed in the New Year unlike any other year since we've been together. We stayed in last night and enjoyed a relaxing night off. We ordered pizza and I fell asleep like any other night. I was woke up by a text message bringing in the New Year. So since its a new year, I thought I would look back and see what I did in 2008.

Took a trip to the shoe tree.

Mom woke me up early one morning to see a huge tree down across the road. It was massive.

The normal dog days of summer.

I had a girl break both wrists at Journalism Camp this summer. That was a fun day...

The sun was just right for some shadow fun.

Anna had fun in her dress.

The biggest thing this year was getting married.

We went to Tennessee.

We got a puppy. His name is Buster.

He likes me.

So those were just some of the things that happened this year. 2009 brings with it many more changes and new things. I'll just have to wait and see what lies ahead.
